Personal Support at Portsmouth College

Peresonal SupportProbably the most important source of support for you during your time at College is your personal tutor.   Tutors are there to help you settle in, resolve issues you might have with your course choices and link up with your teachers to deal with any subject-specific problems that might arise.  They are also there to support your personal development by offering pastoral care throughout your time at college.

As your courses progress, your personal tutor will work with you in supporting your next career move. If you are applying to university,  help with your research and application will begin early in your first year.

Your tutor will guide you to the right people and the correct sources of information and they will help with your personal statement.  Early in the second year,  they will write your academic reference.  Similar support is available for you if you are seeking employment or further training after College.  Please see our ‘Careers’ section for more details and relevant contacts.

We allocate students to personal tutors in June each year.  On Introduction Day (29th June 2011) you will meet your tutor for the first time and begin the process of planning your successful way through College.
