The Art Department’s Exhibition each summer showcases the best of our students’ creative work over the previous twelve months.  Each year we invite a guest from the local arts community to judge a piece for the accolade of ‘Best in Show’.  This year Joanne Bushnell, Director of Aspex Gallery in Gun Wharf Quays awarded the prize to a photographic piece by Chantale Goble.

The College’s Art and Design Department has a long history of project and community support work with St Mary’s Hospital, particularly through students’ photography and the creation of internal murals.  Now, Mike Stoneman, Chair of the Hospital’s Disablement Services Department 'Moving Forward Group' has asked if a photograph by student Wai Lee can go on permanent display in the entrance foyer of the Disablement Services Centre.  Wai produced the image for a major photographic shoot organised as part of her course and her work will now be sited alongside another image by a College Photography student, Sophie Andrews.  St. Mary's Hospital is delighted with the quality of work produced by our students and happy to pay for images to be professionally mounted and framed for display in prime locations within the hospital.

Both Sophie and Wai have successfully completed their courses at College and progressed to the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at the University of Portsmouth.  They will start their specialist degree courses in September 2011.
